Restaurant Order App

Problem

The restaurant takes orders at a counter staffed by a single cashier. When it fills up, that one point sets the pace for everyone: guests who already know what they want queue behind guests who are still deciding, and the wait lands exactly when they are hungriest, before they have ordered anything at all.

Solution

An Android app written in Java that moves ordering off the counter. Guests order from their own device and the cashier works through the orders that arrive instead of collecting them, so an order no longer has to be spoken at the till to exist. That is what changes the arithmetic: several tables can be ordering at once while one person processes them in sequence, and the counter stops being the single point everyone has to pass through.
